The Journey

What's it really like to learn a creative hobby from scratch? The 'Hobby Journey' is the core of The Maverex Workshop, documenting the real process—the triumphs, the failures, and all the lessons learned—of going from beginner to... well, we'll see.

About The Maverex Workshop

I started The Maverex Workshop for a simple reason: I’m a complete beginner.

When I decided to get into creative hobbies like miniature painting and 3D printing, I found thousands of amazing tutorials by experts who made everything look easy. What I couldn’t find was the story of someone starting from zero—the messy, real-time journey of learning from scratch.

This website is my answer. It’s my public workshop and project log, where I’ll share every success, every paint spill, every failed 3D print, and every “aha!” moment along the way.

The Creator

My name is Eric, and I’m the guy behind the workbench, based right here in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I’m not a professional artist or an indie game developer (yet, lol). I’m just a guy with a lifelong passion for creating things and a willingness to dive headfirst into new challenges. This whole project is my way of learning in public and proving that anyone can get started in these amazing hobbies, no matter their initial skill level.

My goal is to be a transparent and honest resource for other hobbyists who are just starting out. Here you’ll find:

  • Honest, Beginner-Focused Reviews: I’ll be buying the tools and kits aimed at people just getting started. You’ll get my unfiltered thoughts on what’s worth the money and what’s just hype.

  • Detailed Project Logs: From unboxing my first paint set to tackling my first 3D printer, I’ll document my projects from start to finish. You’ll see the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  • A Transparent Look at Learning: My goal is to show the real learning curve. If I make a mistake, you’ll see it. When I figure something out, I’ll share it. This is a journey, not a highlight reel.
